Get to know me!
Hi! I am Ms. Coursey and I am a 6th grade math teacher for MCISD. I attended Sam Houston State University. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in 4-8 Mathematics education. I am so happy to be teaching here!
My Teaching Philosophy
As a middle grades teacher, I know that these students are in an in-between phase of their lives. They are moving on from being elementary kids and moving into being teenagers. That is why I hope to be a guiding force and advocate for every student.
I want to focus my teaching style on differentiating instruction and being culturally responsive in order to accomodate every unique learner in my class.
I promise to take the time to get to know each and every one of my students. I will care, pay attention to, inspire them, and prepare them for the next chapter in their lives. I will make an effort to update the parents of my students as often as possible. I will try to make math fun and hopefully inspire some students to pursue STEM. And finally, I promise to show my students respect.
